System Directories

The System Directories Information section displays the name and path of the default system directories for the current user, as well as some non-user specific directories. 

  • Application Data – The user-specific folder where applications store their output data such as graphics files, or user customization settings.
  • Common (All Users) Desktop – The folder in which the contents are displayed on the Desktop of all users.
  • Common (All Users) Favorites – The folder in which the favorites for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Browser are stored. The contents in this folder will be displayed to all users.
  • Common (All Users) Start Menu – The folder in which the links appearing on the Start Menu are stored. The links in this folder will be displayed to all users.
  • Common (All Users) Start Menu Programs – The folder in which the links appearing on the Start Menu are stored. The links in this folder will be displayed to all users.
  • Common (All Users) Start Up – The folder in which the links to the programs to be loaded at startup are stored. The links in this folder will be loaded at startup for all users.
  • Common Program Files – The folder where applications store information for all users. 
  • Configuration - Path to the Windows Configuration File.
  • Cookies – The user-specific folder where cookies are stored when browsing on the Internet.
  • Desktop – The user-specific folder in which the contents of the desktop are stored. 
  • Device Install – Displays the Device Install information.
  • Device Install Other - Displays the Device Install Other information.
  • Document Templates – The user-specific folder in which the templates for applications are stored.
  • Favorites – The user-specific folder in which the favorites for Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Browser are stored.
  • Fonts – The folder in which the Fonts installed on the system are stored. This folder is used by all users.
  • History – The user-specific folder where the Internet History for Internet Explorer is stored. This information contained recently viewed sites and can be edited within the Web Browser.
  • Installation - Displays the path that Windows was Installed from, on a network.
  • Internet Download – The user-specific folder where any files downloaded are saved to. 
  • Media Path – The default folder where system sounds (wav files, RMI files, etc) are stored. This folder is used by all users.
  • My Documents – The user-specific folder in Windows used for saving user documents, pictures, media and more.
  • Program Files – The default Windows folder where Applications are installed.
  • Recent Document Links – The user-specific folder where links to documents recently edited or viewed are stored.
  • Start Menu – The user-specific folder in which the links appearing on the Start Menu are stored.
  • Start Menu Programs – The user-specific folder in which the links appearing on the Start Menu are stored.
  • Send To – The user-specific folder where links to programs are stored. These programs can be used by selecting Send To from an application or by right clicking on a file.
  • Start Up – The user-specific folder in which the links to the programs to be loaded at startup are stored.
  • System – The default Windows folder in which the system files are stored.
  • System Path – Displays the current System Path.
  • Temporary – The user-specific folder where temporary files are stored.
    Temporary Internet Files – The user-specific folder where temporary Internet Files are stored.
  • Windows – The default folder used by Windows to store most files and information used by the Operating System. The default folder is generally WINDOWS.

    To open the System Directories section:

    From the Cool Info FX View Menu, click on System Directories.
