General Display Information

The General Display Information section in Cool Info XP describes the Video Adapter and other related items such as Screen Saver, Resolution, and Font Smoothing.

  • Current Number of Colors – Displays the Number of colors the monitor is currently set to view. The choices are dependent on the monitor and graphics card and what they are able to support. 
  • Display Adapter Description – Displays information about the Display Adapter chipset.
  • Display Adapter Manufacturer – Displays the manufacturer of the Display Adapter.
  • Display Adapter Revision – Displays the Revision number. Manufacturers often release newer versions of the same product.
  • Display Adapters Installed – Displays the number of Display Adapters currently installed on the system. More than one adapter is often used for graphical applications to split different views across multiple monitors.
  • Font Smoothing On – Displays if Font Smoothing is enabled on the system.
  • Full Window Drag On – Displays if Full Window Drag is enabled on the system.
  • Monitors Installed – Displays the number of monitors currently installed on the system. 
  • Refresh Rate – Displays the Refresh Rate that is currently set on the system.
  • Resolution – Refers to the current screen area for the monitor and graphics cards specified. The larger the screen area, the more that can be seen on the monitor. Standard Settings for this are 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768, 1280x1024, and 1600x1200 although many more exist based on the video card and monitor in use.
  • Screen Saver – Displays the screen saver currently set as default on the system.
  • Screen Saver Has a Password – Displays whether the screen saver is password protected or not.
  • Screen Saver Is Turned On – Displays whether the screen saver is currently active on the system. (Generally useful when importing information on a network)
  • Screen Saver Time Out – Displays the amount of time before the screen saver is activated.

    To open the Display section:

    From the Cool Info XP View Menu, click on Display > General Display Information.

    From the Cool Info XP Toolbar, click the Display icon.
