Memory
|
The system memory section in Cool Info XP gives you information about the RAM in your computer. The two main parts to a systems memory is the Physical RAM and the Virtual RAM. Both serve different functions, but work together to allow programs or pieces of information to be called quickly.
- Free Physical RAM – Displays the amount of Memory (RAM) currently not in use by the system.
- Free Virtual \ Paging RAM – Displays the Virtual / Paging Memory currently not in use by the system.
Total Physical RAM –Displays the total amount of RAM installed in the system. The number generally is different than that listed in the system manuals (4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, etc). This is because an actual Megabyte consists of 1024 Bytes and only 1000 Bytes is used to calculate the size commercially. This creates, for example, an increase of 1535 Bytes (1.5 MB) of memory for every 64MB installed in the system making the actual memory 65.5MB.
- Total Virtual \ Paging RAM – Displays the total amount of Virtual / Paging Memory available to the system.
